February 4, 2009 Wednesday – Barbados
Arrival at 7 am on time – nice weather but very windy. We went into the terminal to buy flowers as usual for this port and wandered the shops while she made the arraignments for us. Returned to the ship after a very short time on shore and spend afternoon doing laundry and just resting. The 300 passengers that were left behind in Florida because they did not have Brazil visa caught up with us today making boarding hectic in the terminal. We got ready for dinner a bit earlier to try to have time to go to coffee with the entertainment staff scheduled at 5. We were about 25 minutes late but did see Jaime who told us she received the flowers we bought for her today. We stopped at the Mojito Bar and got a glass of champagne with Rita and then walked to dinner. Tonight is the Pirate Party on Lido deck and Debbie and I each bought a pirate T-shirt in Barbados today for the party. Went to the show after dinner and saw a ventriloquist who was really funny and after the show we went back to the cabin and got our shirts on and went to the party. We got on an elevator that was going down instead of up and went to deck 0 and when the doors opened there were all the entertainment staff in their pirate costumes getting a photo taken so they all rode up to Lido deck with us including Goose the cruise director and Jaime. We met up with Deb and Kay and sat with them and had a really fun time. They did the Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide and they played fun music. We had a good time and when it was over we went to bed really tired. It was another night of rough seas and rocking and rolling.
February 5th, Thursday. We set the alarm to get up at 7:30 am and went right back to sleep as it was raining and rolling a lot. We got up at 10 when the poor cabin steward tried to come in to clean. We got dressed and went to breakfast and met Karen and sat and talked for awhile. We decided to meet for trivia at 1 and Kay, Karen, Debbie and I were competing for the coveted genuine fake gold plated “ship on a stick” or “dingy on a thingy” as it is also known. None of us even got close but tomorrow is another day. We came back to check emails and then we will meet for the “Dolphin” chat and then the Cruise Critic meet and greet is at 4. We had a phone message from Jaime saying she wanted to bring something by the cabin so maybe we will catch up with her later. Debbie, being very trustworthy and also a VIP will get free canapés this afternoon prior to our dinner this evening. They arrived and we ate some of them. Dinner was ok and we went to the show which was Marcus Anthony who was a Motown backup singer we think. He was good and we then went to the casino and played 3 card poker and I did ok but Debbie lost. We came back to the cabin since we lose another hour tonight. The seas are still rough and it’s windy. More tomorrow.
Friday, February 6th. I didn’t sleep well last night as I was having leg cramps. We ordered coffee in the room this morning. It was raining again early and still very windy and rough seas. A lot of people not feeling well because of the rough seas. Jaime came by and brought us a bottle of champagne and the coveted “ship on a stick” and a note thanking us for the flowers. She is such a sweet gal. She is off to do the “hairy chest contest” and we are going to upload the few pictures we have taken so far and then go to lunch. Not a lot happening today so we are being kind of lazy.

I am so sorry that the weather has not been great so far. If it helps it was 27 degrees here this morning. I thougth we may have seen you by the pool one day - did you have on a pink shirt and blank pants??? Couldn't tell for sure if it was you. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that for your equator party tomorrow you have beautiful weather and also for Fortelesa.
